UV-B rays are necessary to produce vitamin D on the skin. Conventional sunscreens block both UV-A and UV-B rays, but Solar D allows only some wavelengths of UV-B rays to pass through. It passes only the UV-B wavelengths of approximately 290-310 nm, which are capable of producing vitamin D, and effectively filters out the harmful wavelengths of approximately 315-380 nm.
