A story from the inventor of KAPLA blocks

Tom Brüggen had a dream of living in a castle since he was a child. When he was in his 20s and traveling to the south of France, he bought an old castle and spent 15 years trying to restore his own castle. During this time, he came up with the idea of ​​using boards of the same size, and thus the KAPLA block was born.

The History of Kapla

Prototypes of KAPLA blocks began in 1970. After 15 years of research, inventor Tom Brueggen created a one-sized piece of wood and released the "KAPLA" block. It quickly became popular among children in Europe and the US, who said, "You can make anything with it!" It then spread like wildfire. In 1995, it first arrived in Japan, and efforts to spread the word about it began, with the aim of spreading the fun of KAPLA throughout Japan. In 1996, a work was exhibited at the Louvre in France, and it was highly praised as "KAPLA will become a toy representative of the 21st century." Celebrating its 25th anniversary since its release in 2012, KAPLA is enjoyed by children and adults all over the world.
